3D Scanning

B3D Labs also does professional high-resolution industrial 3D scanning services for sculpture replications, auto parts reverse engineering, digital archiving, and supporting the fabrication process. We have worked with artists, scenic fabricators, manufacturers, design teams, and entrepreneurs to capture physical objects or people to deliver precise digital files both in-house and on-site.

Our team used professional-grade equipment to 3D scan objects ranging from the size of a ping pong ball to a full-sized car. Our team translates scan data into accurate 3D models optimized for design development, 3D printing, or other fabrication methods. We handle scanning, file cleanup, and modification to align with your requirements.

3D scanning can be performed in our Brooklyn office or on-site. B3D Labs operates as your partner from scanning to file conversion to 3D printing, if desired. Submit a form to get started, and our team will be in touch!

Frequently Asked Questions

Almost any physical object, including sculptures, artifacts, product samples, shoe lasts, or architectural details, can be 3D scanned. We capture the object's exact geometry and surface detail as a digital file, which can then be used for replication, resizing, archiving, or modification.

Our scanning process captures fine surface detail and precise dimensions, which matters most when the scan feeds into replication or resizing work where small deviations would be noticeable. We check the resulting file against the original before moving to the next step.

Yes. We 3D scan the original piece, then reproduce it at the same scale or resize it up or down, as used by artists enlarging a maquette to exhibition scale, museums creating display replicas, and galleries producing archival reproductions.

3D scanning turns a physical object into a digital file, which we then use for replication, resizing, archiving, or modification. It's commonly used by artists, museums, and designers working from an existing object rather than starting from a blank file.

Both are available. If you need the digital file itself for archiving, future edits, or use outside our studio, we can provide it. If you just need us to move straight to printing, replication, or resizing, we handle that without an extra step.

Post-processing covers sanding, support removal, priming, painting, and assembly that turns a raw print into a finished, presentation-ready object.

Artists and sculptors, museums and galleries, brands, and designers without CAD experience, whether they're digitizing something that already exists or creating something new.

Pricing varies widely by service; scanning and design work is typically quoted per project based on complexity, while replication and resizing depend on scale and finish. Send us your object or concept, and we'll quote based on the actual work involved.

Tell us what you're working with, an existing object to scan or replicate, or a concept you want designed and printed, along with any reference images or files. Our project lead reviews every inquiry and responds within one to three business days.
